  63.  GETTING STARTED:
  64.  ────────────────
  65.  
  66.    1. Copy 21UP.EXE to a directory which is included in the PATH statement.
  67.    2. Start 21UP. You may start it from a command line or you may create
  68.       a 21UP object on your desktop or in a folder using standard OS/2
  69.       procedures and start it from there.
  70.    3. From the Menu bar select PRINTER - SETTINGS.
  71.    4. Select the appropriate settings for your printer (Printer, Print
  72.       Mode and Paper Size) and then select RETURN.
  73.    5. From the Menu bar select HELP - PRINT HELP.
  74.    6. The documentation will print. Read and follow instructions there.
  75.       NOTE the INITIAL SET UP section, especially if the documentation
  76.       did not print correctly (It should be readable enough to follow).
  77.    7. If you still have problems then DO THE FOLLOWING:
  78.        - Print the 21UPTEST.FIL enclosed with the package.
  79.        - Send me a note with the following information:
  80.           - Which version number you are using (from the main screen).
  81.           - The settings you used that were DIFFERENT from the defaults.
  82.           - A description of the problem.
  83.           - What lines (in the test file) printed in what columns and on
  84.             what pages?
  85.           - What was the first character printed on the last (continued)
  86.             part of the last line (200)?
  87.           - Any other information you feel will help.

  95.     1. Fixed a problem with lines per page on A4 paper.
  96.     2. Fixed an incompatability problem with 4OS2.
  97.     3. Fixed a problem with hole punch adjust and 2UP portrait and 1UP
  98.        landscape.
  99.     4. Fixed a problem with filenames with imbedded spaces. You couldn't
  100.        print these from the command line or by drag and drop. You can now.
  101.        You may not have more than 1 consecutive blank in the name.
  102.     5. Added a total page count to the top of the main menu along with
  103.        file count.
  104.     6. The font in the check boxes and buttons has been made smaller to
  105.        improve the readability of 21UP at high resolutions.

  107.   V7.1:

  109.     1. Added support for 1UP printing in Landscape mode. Good for extra
  110.        long print lines.
  111.     2. Added support for 2UP printing in Portrait mode. Good for real
  112.        short print lines.
  113.     3. Added support for saving the current path and optionally the
  114.        file name when leaving 21UP. This allows you to get back to
  115.        where you last left 21UP and is almost always better than the
  116.        default path.
  117.     4. Added a new menu option under Files called Select List. This
  118.        allows you to select a file which contains a list of files to
  119.        process.
  120.     5. Added a new menu option under Files called Create List. This
  121.        allows you to create a file (21UPFILE.LIS) which contains a list
  122.        of files in the directory selected. This file is also stored in
  123.        that directory. You may then select this file with Select List.
  124.     6. Added the Append Files option to Print Format. This will NOT
  125.        eject to a new page when printing a new file, instead it inserts
  126.        the filename at the start of a new file. This option has the
  127.        potential to save a lot of paper when printing many short files.
  128.     7. Added a progress bar just below the menu to track the processing
  129.        progress by file.
  130.     8. Significant performance improvements have been made to file
  131.        processing. Most noticable with larger files.
  132.     9. Changed the following for duplex printing:
  133.        a. - If only 1 page is printed then no prompt is displayed to
  134.             reinsert the paper.
  135.        b. - If an odd number of total pages are printed then 21UP will
  136.             eject the last page at the end of pass 2.
  137.    10. The Help/Documentation has not only been changed to reflect
  138.        the above additions but has been extensively revised to clarify
  139.        meanings. In addition, some limited examples of command line
  140.        invokation have been added.

  142.   V7.1 SPECIAL NOTE:

  145.     THE PROFILE FORMAT HAS CHANGED! If you are a new user or do NOT have
  146.     any saved profiles then you do NOT have to do anything. If you are
  147.     MIGRATING from a previous version WITH saved profiles AND you have a
  148.     user defined printer name in the profile then:
  149.  
  150.     - Edit your profile(s) and INSERT 000 AFTER position 27 in the profile.
  151.     - Save the profile.
  152.  
  153.     otherwise you do not have to do anything.
  154.  
  155.     To help ensure that this will not happen again (at least for a while)
  156.     I have added a Reserved field to the profile layout.
  157.  
  158.   V6.4:

  160.     1. Fixed bugs with: 1UP printing in PCL4 mode
  161.                         Duplex printing
  162.                         PostScript printing on A4 and Legal paper
  163.     2. Changed the User printer function of Printer Settings to allow
  164.        for up to 50 characters and to allow the block to be scrolled so
  165.        you can see what you type. Also changed the documentation to
  166.        clarify and give examples of what can be put in this field.
  167.     3. Added Page Num. on Main menu to allow you to set the initial
  168.        page number (useful when printing selected lines).
  169.     4. Added VERY LIMITED support for generic 132 and 80 column non-laser
  170.        printers. Not all options will work (no landscape printing).

  174.     1. Added support to Print Format to allow for wordwrapping instead
  175.        of line length wrapping at the end of a line. It is now the default.

  211.        There are NO changes to the default profile naming convention
  212.        or initial loading.
  213.        New profiles are recommended to have a file extension of .21P.
  214.        Additional profiles will allow you to have several settings saved
  215.        for the same or different printers.
  216.     2. Added a command line option of -Pprofilespec to specify the profile
  217.        to be used.
  218.     3. Added support for Multiple File Selection
  219.         - Up to 10 filenames may be passed on the command line.
  220.         - A count of the number of files that have been selected has
  221.           been added to the Main Menu.
  222.         - You may select multiple files from multiple directories
  223.           before you print. They will all be printed with the same
  224.           print specifications.
  225.     4. The -M and -P options (if specified) must now be the FIRST
  226.        options.
  227.     5. Added option: 'From file' to the Header Format section to use
  228.        the date and/or time from the file instead of the current date
  229.        and/or time.
  230.     6. Removed the highlighting on Radio buttons and Check boxes to
  231.        conform to the accepted practice of displaying them.
  232.     7. Changed the look of 21UP to give a 'cleaner' feel.
  233.     8. Removed the requirement for the VPBEVEL.DLL and VPOBJ.DLL files.
  234.        If you only used them for prior versions of 21UP then you may
  235.        delete them.
  236.
